JB Hunt appoints Shelley Simpson president of the company

JB Hunt Transport Services Inc. has named Shelley Simpson president – the first woman to hold the position.

Simpson, elected by the company’s board of directors, will take office on August 1, the company announced on July 20.

She replaces John Roberts, who will remain the company’s CEO.

“I am grateful for John’s continued leadership and growing spirit,” Simpson said in a statement. “As our 60th anniversary draws to a close, I can’t help but reflect on our company’s rich history of innovation.”

His career with the company spans nearly three decades, half of which in leadership roles.

Ms. Simpson, in her new role, will be responsible for overseeing all management duties and performance of all corporate business units, emerging technologies, service development and human resources.

Simpson most recently served as chief commercial officer and executive vice president of people and human resources, in addition to leading international services and corporate marketing.

She was named President of Integrated Capacity Solutions in 2007 after helping to found the business unit. She assumed sales and marketing leadership responsibilities in 2011 as Marketing Director. She became president of the truckload business line in 2014.

Simpson was eventually named Chief Commercial Officer and President of Road Services in 2017. She also led the strategic direction and launch of the JB Hunt 360° loading chart and freight management solution at this time as well. She added responsibilities for people and human resources in 2020.

JB Hunt has credited her career with reflecting the strides she has made as an innovative leader in the transportation and logistics industry.

Additionally, Brad Hicks will remain President of Road Services and take on additional responsibilities as Executive Vice President of People. Hicks has been with the company for 26 years and has held leadership positions since 2017.

Spencer Frazier will assume the role of executive vice president of sales and marketing. Frazier has been with the company for 21 years. He most recently served as senior vice president of sales.

JB Hunt Transport Services Inc. ranks #4 on Transport Topics’ Top 100 Carriers list of the largest for-hire carriers in North America. It also ranks 5th on the TT list of the 100 largest logistics companies in North America.
